Hii,
I am new to gemology and i am confused between Diffraction Grating and Prism Spectroscope. Which will be the best for me with definite results. Also, i need a guide (videos, articles, references) for beginning spectroscopy.

Struggling through the spectroscope my self. The difference between the two is a bit of a color shift. One reads more into the red than the other. But as far as reading absorption lines they both do the same job.
What I'm finding is the problems with the spectroscope are not anything to do with the tool it's the lighting. Inconsistent light conditions as batteries fade on flashlights or led vs incandescent bulbs are making for inconsistent results. So my answer is to use a 150w fiber optic base with flex tube and pinpoint focal adapter.

My personal preference is the OPL Teaching model with stand. It is a diffraction grating spectroscope.
