Hi everyone i am new to the forums so I hope I am doing it right
I was wondering if someone could help me identify my stone beaded necklace, it is one of my favourites but always thought they were made of agate but I can't find an agate that matches i have uploaded some pictures

Hi Heidi and welcome. I can think of 3 likely things they may be: Nephrite Green chert Serpentine
If you shine a (very small) light behind a bead, nephrite will always have translucent edges. If you take a small pen knife and try to scratch a bead (hold the bead securely in your hand and just try a small scratch) the serpentine will scratch, the other 2 not.

Hi,
Thank you for the response, I have shone a torch it's not translucent as such but I can see swirls inside. I scratched with a pen knife and it didn't leave a mark.
So it must be one of the other two I'm presuming ?
We were recently sent a tumbled sample of "brazilian jade" this color to test by a local dealer that ended up being epidote, so it's certainly a possibility anyway.
It took a few tries to get it positioned right but it did scan for us. It was a case where we were pretty sure once we held it in the hand but it was nice to get spectral confirmation.
