New to the Forum or The Quiet Type

A little background. My father was a lapidarist, and made other things out of stones. I know a little bit, but I'm not sure what the attached is. Any identification help would be appreciated.

Not really possible to say from the photo. It looks brilliant cyan blue and translucent but there are a number of materials, natural, treated and wholly manmade, which could match that description.

Stephen is right of course but I'd get that one checked, if it is gem silica you have a fantastic piece and worth some cash.
