Anyone have experienece with PMC?
I toying with buying some, but the dry out factor scares me.

Probably the bronze clay would be a good place to start.
Should I take a class or just jump in?

It is super fun, not too difficult, can have very good results. My dad took a class, picked up some tricks and enjoyed it overall.

Barbara:

The silver is easier to work with; the bronze and copper types are more fussy in their firing. I worked with it before there were classes offered and it's not that hard. I used glycerine (cake maker type) with distilled water to keep it moist.

Watch a few youtube videos on it and you'll be good to go. I quit using it because of the horrendous shrink factor and the fact that fine silver doesn't case harden like sterling, so thin elements will bend easily and don't stiffen like ss does. It will bend until it suddenly fails.

Get yourself some rubber shapers like these https://www.michaels.com/clay-shaper-se ... 11253.html. They make it a lot easier to work with. Have fun!

I would take a class. It takes about an hour, and then you will have made your first piece. It *IS* easy to do.
