I've just looked at the "fashion" colors for fall 2010. They look like spring colors to me - yellow, orange, pink, pale grey - do you look at these at all for what you are producing? (Okay there are deep "chocolate truffle" and "lagoon")
Should I ignore this? I was good for spring summer 2010 - lots of turquoise - but this has me stumped.

I keep an eye on the upcoming colors, and if they happen to align nicely with gem colors I'll emphasize those (lots of turquoise and teal for me this spring/summer). I don't sink a lot of time or money into the seasonal color trends though; that's asking for stuff to sit around growing outdated if it doesn't sell.
I pretty much keep an eye on them and take them into account, but don't bend over backwards tailoring myself to them. I also watch when seasonal colors hit stores and see what seems to be displayed in the mainstream. Often only one or two colors in the palette get a lot of mainstream promotion in the end.
That sounds like a great goal/hope, allen! Sadly I know some of my less expensive earrings won't become heirlooms, but I hope some of my more skilled creations get passed down.
