newbe question.

I just completed a set of dops for my facet machine out of brass. I finished them in a vibrating machine with walnut shells with some metal polish added. Can I use the same shells when I do silver work, or will the brass in the material cause problems?

I have enough walnut shell to use fresh material, but did not want to switch it out if I did not need o=to.

Thanks.

Hi there

Probably not a good idea tumbling silver in the used Walnut Shell. It's just begging for trouble knowing it's already contaminated with
Brass flakes. Walnut is really cheap media ! Toss it and rinse the bowl really well !

cheers

Plus, who doesn't need an excuse to eat some more walnuts?

Thanks, that is what I thought. I have enough to switch over. I just have to keep the batches organized. (which can be a challenge of me.)

I have never tried the walnut shells on silver yet, but it did a pretty good job cleaning up the brass dops.
