When I joined in September, the foundation program including a survey and a program based on a new program:20% test on line, about 50 % practical examination and 30% theory examination.
Today....only today ,after 2 months,Gem-A sent e-mail to my tutor :in January, the examination will not be 'with the new method for "lack of time".We returns to the old program and the old examination.
 I think that this uncertainty does not help the gem-a reputation.

Odd, they haven't said anything about that in the daytime courses. I'll ask my tutor tomorrow what's going on with that. Have you done any of the online tests yet? And which language are you doing them in? We have the first three of four tests put online already for our daytime in-house course.

What we did fill out today was a form that asked for feedback/verification from the students that all of the relevant stones and equipment covered in the Foundation course had been seen/used and/or observed (in the case of the stones that you don't have to know more than the general info available through a loupe). It can be submitted via mail, fax or directly if you are on site.

Hi..

I found it strange too, I thought they are trying to phase out the old "method".

May be it's worth contacting Gem-A directly. I don't understand why would they give you the new notes and then ask you to get examined in the old method. It just doesn't make sense to me..

Hi

Preamble:mine is a post to improve and enhance the prestige of Gem-A.
If the gem-A increase his prestige, even my diploma increases in importance.
Yesterday I was in Genoa (course in Italian language)and my tutor (available and prepared) has read in direct e-mail of the change in progress.
The examination should be equal throughout the world, so ....
Aniway await further news from my tutor

Francesco

hey folks,

The Gem-A has confirmed:
examination will take place with the old method...and with the old text (Luckily my tutor gave me some photocopies).
I go back to study, the main thing is to learn the topics and hope that the GEM-A person who will came here from London will be a real gemmo expert........ (there is the risk to have an history or mathematic professor... ).
wish me luck!

Did they say why they are doing this?

Translation issues maybe?

We've had 2 online assignments and there are 2 more to complete before the examination. They have all been posted for the people in my class, although there is one that we haven't finished the course work for yet.

So if the English ones are online, it may be a language/translation issue. Or perhaps a webpage in Italian issue...
