 Post subject: unusual stone on the practical exam today

Ok, the practical exam was today. Apart from the nightmare of the "ID with loupe only" 5 stone set, it was fairly straight forward. I did have a doublet that was like nothing that I had seen in the class though.

Zircon or Apatite blue (which are the only stones in the syllabus with that colour), no spectrum, no doubling, a big bubble under the table. No RI reading, so either OTL or something weird going on. Visible join at the girdle.

Ok, so it was (to me) a doublet of some sort. We've never seen a doublet of this colour in our class though, athough the location of the joint would/should eliminate a GTD. Anyone seen one like this before?
