Are there Carpathian Spectrolites??? In one series of them with title ''Gypsy Mafia'', have showed some nice Spectrolites from Carpathian mountains. Is it true or fail?? I was looking for it on the internet but nothing...

Sure it's true - Don-Don doesn't make up stories. Funny, ever since I called GSN to question his new find red apatite, he hasn't been back. Looks like his Gem Guys site was also taken down. Never received a response to my GSN email either.

Well what do you know, he is back on the air this weekend. I called in during the show to question his lot of star rubies as well as the red apatite he was selling a few weeks ago. The call rep. Larry told me that because Kogen pays for the air time he doesn't have to answer my questions. Just like he said that samples of the red apatite were sent to all the major labs, these star rubies were fully certified. More than a hundred rubies, untreated with the exact same perfect 6 ray star. I told Larry I'm not buying it. Same show last night, a large certified ? alexandrite was sold. It was an ugly greenish brown. When they tried to demonstrate the color change , I seen none. Price sold for-$100,000. Large brownish orange sapphire sold- $75,000. The clown is a good salesman. Wonder if anyone else watched any GSN this weekend?

Hi Nicky!

I haven't seen that show in a couple of years... Will look to see if we can download it.
Thanks for the "heads up" on the episode contents!
It makes me wary when people won't answer simple questions...
Maybe on the next show he'll try to sell a genuine Tibetan Andesine...

75000$ ??? Where was set this orange sapphire? Or is it loose? How much carats was?
Thank you for your comments about this show.

The two stones I mentioned were large (over thirty carats). More important is the color. Brownish orange is not rare or valuable in any size- 75K is insane. The other stone that sold- the 33 ct. alexandrite was brownish green with little to no color change.( should be called chrysoberyl not alexandrite). 100K for that one is even more insane. Any stone that expensive should have a report from a major lab( maybe even 2 labs). Anyone who purchased from this show got ripped off. I wonder if the G.O. member who purchased the red apatite ever had it checked out?

Note that the GIA is, in technical terms, a bit "loosey goosey" when it comes to calling chrysoberyl alexandrite on a lab report. A bit of color shift is enough.

Quite right Stephen, at GIA a bit of a color shift in any color will make a chrysoberyl an alex.

Dang....they are making bank by flipping stones such as those. I wonder what David Weinberg would think about that alex...LOL

How about a show that is run and produced by people like those here on GO?
Miss B....you need to buy some airtime! Public access to start out with...PBS, maybe?
Right after the Okeefenokee Joe show, but before Antiques Road show.
Get JB to be on there cracking people up.... Dr. Hanneman to show, and demonstrate, the quirky little things he does with stones.....
Miss B can do a segment on how chelsea filters are so awesome ....
Brucetourm can do some story telling, like a Mr. Rogers style.....
if Doo's were around, he could tie it all together and make it fun, and funny, to watch.

I like to sleep at night... My idea of a good business deal is to make a substantial profit, but it has to be a fair transaction, and the customer has to be happy so they will want to do business with me again.

Thanks for the endorsement Jason, but it looks like our only inventory would be Bruce's tourmaline. #-o
