I have time to (finally) go to the Oregon sunstone fee digs this September. Just wanted to ask how anyone has done this year. Any news of what is turning up?

There will be two of us, 3 days in the actual area. Thinking of doing some of the screen/belt runs they offer. Are they worth the money?

Mines I am wondering about (in order of interest) are:

Spectrum

Double Eagle #16

Dust Devil

Any reports, help, advise, or rumors are welcome!

My family and I went to the Spectrum mine this summer and did two belt runs (as well as looking on the surface in between). In sorting it out afterwards, we found that we'd gotten quite a few greens as well as a nice dose of pinks, schiller stones and a few reds (we could see the reds right away, of course, but the others are more subtle in the bright sunlight). So yes, I'd say it was definitely worth it. We've been a number of times and this was a good one. And while you're there you might want to buy a bag of their Himalaya mine pegmatite dirt--we did a bag of that as well this year, and we did very well with it (lots of nice tourmalines).
