Seam Amethyst, black agate, white agate, a small turtle and a wild adventure!

Was taken to a spot this last weekend where they are blasting a mountain down to build homes in a rather nice area. It was late in the day with about an hour of sunlight for us to work with. Funny how you sometimes stumble onto a good rock hunting area only to learn the big bad house monster is coming to build on it.
Everywhere we looked was seams of Amethyst, nothing gemmy but stunning samples to be had rite on the surface. With all the seams, i am betting there is a big pocket of crystals somewhere on that hill. Me and my hooligan friends wandered around in early morning so i snapped a few shots of some small odd red flowers on a prickly bush, im just geeky that way! Found some ok looking black agate laying around and some white as well with black tourmaline included in it. This interest me a great deal as a few gem grade tourms have been found in the 50's in the area. You will notice the little baby turtle, poor little guy was stuck in between some rocks and could not get out so we gave him a helping hand. shshs dont tell the BLM it's a 25k fine! more to come as we are adventuring in the next hill over in search of our little treasures.

p.s.

3rd pic down is a zeolite sample found in the area as well. Volcanically diverse!

Yes Barb, Lake las Vegas resort area. 1 million$$$ lots to start, not including the domicile. I will be heading back to this area this Saturday to adventure around a bit more. Tourmaline has been found in the area historically, makes me wonder where it originated from. Im on the Hunt!

kalifornia is losing residents because of taxes and cost of living....that's why they are building in a state with lower home prices, gasoline, income and sales taxes. Basically to live the same lifestyle you need almost 50% more income in California then in Nevada...soon all that will be left is the rich and their servants.
