It's not such a active topic about trips.
Wish is the most fun.
But how about going to Kenya?
Are there anyone interested in visiting middle of Kenya?
I can get you around to vist landowners and mines.
Can be a chance to hassle for gems to a great price.
Give me your thoughts.

Jambo Ndugu,

What kind of gemstones are you finding in central Kenya these days? Which districts are you working in?

Steve

Sijambo ndugu
Sapphire both yellow and blue...tourmalines and garnets.
And we seen traces of aquamarine in the new mines we are sponsoring.

It's a bit north of Meru. But also new a bit south.
But to our office we get people from further away.

Please pm me about you Steve.

I know that area a little bit. I partnered with a Greek family in an Aquamarine mine in that area back in the 1980's. Some of the best color I have ever seen. Unfortunately mostly smaller pieces because of the need to use blasting to work the deposit. It came out of the ground a dark olive green, and heated to a stunning dark blue.

The same family also mined the original Garbatula Sapphire deposit up there. Sounds similar to the material you are working with. The blue tended to be dark and mixed with green on one axis. The yellows were often stunning.

Are these the same deposits you are working with now?

I recognise what you are writing yes.
Unfortunately in the north they do blasting. But its on sapphire.
But we manage to also get a lot of perfect blue.

I told those new mining people to never use blasting. Its nice to follow that progress from the beginning. And we hope they will find aquamarine.

And so hard to find a cutter in Kenya to employ. But we are in contact with one now that might be interested. So right now we are cutting in Nairobi and Thailand.

You are probably more likely to find some cutters to employ in Arusha these day.
