Hello,
I was wondering if there is anyone here that works or worked at the GIA Carlsbad. I was wondering if there was any growth opportunity? Also how the work environment is?

I have applied for the diamond grader position. Starting pay is 14.27. With added bonus for completing certifications. so about 30,000. I was wondering if I should take this position. I know that going into this business, people going into this business like gems and not care about money. But to an extent. You want to know that you are working and would want to grow monetary overtime.

I was wondering if growth within GIA is possible. I know that HR mentioned that growth can be from diamond grader, to double checker, to quality assurance, trainer, etc. My goal is to be able to reach 45,000 - 60,000 if possible.

Anyone know if this would be possible to reach? What would I be able to do with a diamond certification and gemological graduate if I decided to leave GIA?

Thanks

My roommate was a diamond grader at GIA Santa Monica after he received his GG. (for a short while). I don't know how much growth potential there is within the GIA; I do know it would impress future employers if you had graded diamonds for the GIA. Probably not a bad starting point toward building a great resume.... Good luck.
