Post an image. The looks of the crystal sets the price... If it is a beauty with perfect termination and nice crystal faces someone will pick it up I'm sure. But I think most collectors do not have cabinets big enough for that crystal. A New Age shop perhaps?

That would probably work. The shops I've been in always seem to have people in them who are "sensitive" to the vibrations emanating from these crystals and they could undoubtedly ask the crystal what it thought it was worth and who it would like to live with.
Don't get it near me, I'd just scare it with my saws, grinders and other tools of crystal torture. It does sound a little overweight and I'm sure that I could make it go on a diet and perhaps even get some miniature clones out of it.

You sure you've got sawteeth big enough for this one, Michael? Isn't 238 pounds almost 120 kg!?
As for appraising and selling it, google for a suitable mineral specimens dealer and make them a call!

Sometimes these types of rough just need a little cobbing to get them down to the size that my 6" faceting trim saw can handle Jung Kee.
Just kidding. I really would like to see a picture of this crystal though. How about it Cassandra, do you have some pictures to show us ? If this crystal has very large clean areas you might try contacting this fellow as he works in HUGE pieces like this, (great pictures and music on his site as well: http://www.crystalworks.com/

I have a 238 pound smoky quarts crystall. How can I find anything about it. As in how to get it appraised, or how to find a buyer for it. Thanks
You need to be talking to mineral dealers, not gem people. If it has nice terminations and hasn't been beaten-up it might have value on the mineral market. The source locality could be important.
Where are you located? I might be able to provide names of dealers in your area who could help you further. I know of a couple of dealers who specialize in large crystal specimens. Zee's in Tucson is one.
THANKS I APPRECIATED THE ADVICE AND WILL TAKE SOME PICTURES OF THE CRYSTAL TODAY OR TOMORROW TO SUBMIT. I WILL SAY THE ROCK IS NOT PERFECT, BUT LET ME ADD THAT THE RAINBOW COLORS IN IT ARE BRILIANT AND THE TOP IS SO BLACK THAT NO LIGHT PASSES THROUGH IT. THANKS AGAIN.
