Hi there,
just bought a tsavorite with a HKD gemstone identification (see pictures).
Its a really nice stone with a soft lime green color. I like it a lot.
But when I go to the homepage of HKD the identification report is not online findable and when I look with google, the reports look differen.
Anyone can confirm, that this HKD report I got is original?
Thx in advance
Nik

isn't it best to contact the lab themselves for verification
i ran your report number in their site ( http://www.hkdlab.ca/reportverification.php ) it says:

Quote:
Sorry, the HKD report you want to verify cannot be done online. Please email HKD (contactus@hkdlab.ca) for a manual verification

Hi there,
thanks for the answer, i got the same result.
And yes I already wrote a mail a couple of days ago but did not recieve an answer (maybe because of XMAS...).
I was just irritated because of the look of the report, which looks on their homepage totally different.
The one i got reminds me on the GLB Reports which you get often buying on ebay, so I was worried that this one is just false.
So I will wait for an answer.

Thanks and best wishes
Nik

For the record, I don't think that stone would qualify as tsavorite to most people. Tsavorite should generally be emerald green in color--ie, if it were beryl of the same color it would qualify as emerald. If this were a beryl it would be heliodor or aquamarine. Purely V-colored grossular really seems to be pure green to blue-green, while this is more reminiscent of the ugrandite-type hybrids. That's just my two cents, though--I'm not meaning to denigrate the stone, I like this color range quite a bit, I just wouldn't call it tsavorite.

What is your guess then?
The RI and everything else fits for (tsavorite) garnet. I like the emerald green more but find this tone also very interesting. Thanks for your two cents...
Do You Know this HKD lab?
Best wishes
Nik

Sadly to inform you, your package should worth just a bit over US$16...

By the way, if you call their phone number, you may found out that their phone number and address is "shared" by another institute named Creative CADS Work Academy and Ujas Gemport.

You can also ask for a "Hemdeep Patel" as that person is listed as a "gemmologist" that is "a fully Accredited Appraisers by the Canadian Jewellers Institute" (http://jewellersvigilance.ca/html/jvc_appraisers.htm).

I personally bought a ''morganite'' from this seller and got the Japanese report (it seemed a lot more legit than the Thai lab in my eyes) and it proved to be synthetic. Paid 200 Usd at least for this one and never managed to get the proper refund.

Is morganite made synthetically? Don't think so.
If it was an imitation, what did it turn out to be?

Chatham does make a synthetic morganite but I don't think there's much on the market--I'd think it would have some real value as a curiosity. My dad once had a pretty convincing synthetic pink quartz sold to him as morganite, though, which may be a good candidate there.
