Just "google" it for the latest developments.

I know it's hard to find something new in the Internet age. :)

found this from one website about the trial, "The stone was at one time listed on eBay in the ‘buy it now’ category for $75 million."

Often when large rough items are appraised at such high "values" the real owner will be the IRS as taxes are due prior to sale. Also, if the sale was not legal, say it was not declared when brought through US Customs, the USA may be the owner? Nust declare value on 3461 US Customs form. If not, it become contraband, and ownership is USA government. More to pay off the deficit, poor greedy people, and note the economic tax liabilities that they have created for themselves, justice? ironic? wonders never cease to amaze me when amateurs appraise rough as if it were cut?, well, they should benefit from all the attention that they have created in Court. And there is no humor in gemology! made my day, week, and maybe month. w

right now, the bahia emerald is in the possession of the LA County Sheriff Dept.--under lock & key. :P at our local police dept, they have a lot of drug paraphernalia in a glass cabinet on display in the lobby, imagine if the la county sheriff dept. placed the bahia emerald on display if they cannot settle ownership during the trial. :P lol!!

From the images I have seen it might make a good doorstop. You'd have to knock some pieces off with a hammer though or you'd always be tripping over it.

Maybe a good trolling boat anchor. Should not use it in the Gulf of Mexico, because of the BP spill. Beryl could damage sea life, is Beryl soluble in water? salty gulf water? w

A great new home for this item is in the Smithsonian collection. How about that? Scream too loud, and your "treasure" maybe "nationalized?" w
