Hi all, You may have already know of or experienced this one. It's spreading through the UK at the moment.
A "customer" walks in selects an item (usually inexpensive) and buys it (usually with cash). The item is packaged and placed in a bag. On the way out they notice a diamond/ruby or other piece of higher value jewellery. They ask to see it presented in a box, love it, snap the box shut a put it in the bag. They then say they are going to get more money and ask if you could hold onto the items whilst they do it.
The salesperson is at ease and "knows" they are coming back as they have the item they have already bought. Guess what. The "customer isn't coming back as they have used slight of hand to palm the expensive piece and place an empty box in the bag, sacrificing the cheap bit of jewellery.
Beware people and NEVER let a customer do their own packing!
Take care.
