A Buffalo jeweler who defrauded dozens of customers has been sentenced to 23 to 69 years in jail, a severe term generally reserved for violent criminals, according to local news accounts.
Paul Blarr, the former owner of the Amherst Diamond Exchange, has also been ordered to pay $928,266 in restitution. The sentence means that, even if he accrues “good time,” Blarr will serve a minimum 19 years in jail, according to a report in the Buffalo News.

I do not think I am alone in being FED UP with "White Collar" criminals being "Special". For just one example, Madoff's scam triggered quite a few suicides and ruined lives.

Where is Vlad Tepes now that we really need him?

Well, you know. Vlad threw interesting parties. Whadda guy.

But seriously, crimes like this are very much our business. They taint every one of us.

More than fifty years ago a teacher told my class a story. Her mother had a local jeweler clean her diamond engagement ring.
Years later, she had it reset.
The jeweler told her it has been swapped for a white sapphire.
Her mother cried for days.

While the issue is "Which jeweler lied?", my classmates and I REMEMBERED that story. Forever.
Nobody leaves a ring for "Cleaning". Right?
