I don't think this is a very useful source, and their claims of copper diffusion treatment in tourmaline are, in my personal opinion, hilarious.

Indeed, I posted this more for discussions sake than anything. I had not heard the tourmaline claim before.

Oh yeah I figured, just posting for the sake of other observers. IIRC they have been making this claim for some time.

I had paid no attention to him or the controversy for years but he just posted on a facebook page I belong to. One that, get this, purports to expose scammers. :) Evidently a lot has gone on since I quit paying attention. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Just to make it absolutely clear. I posted the original link to expose Robert James and his new appraisal group (at least new to me) as scammers not the subject of the link itself.
He is continuing to have a strong following throughout the industry and I was hoping to create some dialogue so as to shed some light on his dark activities. Of course, those that follow and support him only do so out of ignorance.

The link in question: https://instituteofappraisal.com/articl ... -syndrome/ brought to you by Robert James latest iteration of his gemological scam empire.

Generally speaking, I think there are unfortunate practical reasons for people tending to avoid too much direct discussion of this kind of issue.

Direct links like this on well traveled websites can help with a site's SEO, which I suspect is one reason that Barbra has removed it.

Indeed you are correct on both counts. But after a private discussion with Barbra we agreed that exposing his hi jinks was of more importance.

I do not think there will be any confusion about this link: http://badgemology.com/

The topics in this absurd article have NOTHING to do with appraisal science.

The andesine/ tourmaline references are examples of rehashed non-issues which were resolved years ago.

Well, that went nowhere. Makes me miss Alain.

I think, even Alain, has had enough from this agitator.
I could swear I heard a sigh and an eye roll when I opened the link followed by a distant voice with a Dutch accent saying, "Leave it alone."

Yes, OK, seems like a popular response. It is jut hard for me to let it go knowing he is still out there spreading his bullshit unchallenged.
