Hey all
Just a quick introduction. My name is John and I live near Lenoir NC. Been Faceting for about a year now!!! Looking to meet local rockhounds from the area. Find some great places to go hunt for facet grade rough! Adds to the fun of cutting an awsome stone. I have a Graves Mark IV that ive modified with a cutting depth gauge. saw the plans for this somewhere on the net! Im somewhere around my 15th stone cut. Been a slow year with a wild work load and all but hope to turn more out soon. But winter finds me in the basement den at the work bench! Hoping to learn and answer some of those questions that are somewhere in the back of my mind!

John

Hi John, you should get this book if you dont already have it. Rock, Gem, and Mineral Collecting Sites in Western North Carolina By Richard James Jacquot, Jr.

Realistically, you probably wont find any faceting rough unless you like quartz. Still a ton of neat things in the area. I grew up just down the road in Spruce Pine.
