Hi all, my Name is Marvin Wambua, l am a gem cutter and a Gemologist. My favorite gemstone is Spessartite Garnet. I used to live in the Us but now l reside in Nairobi. After being away for twenty years l decided to come home and try the "gem trade" if you ask me i think flipping burgers is a better way of earning a living. East Africa is full of potential as far as Gemstones, its only that some mineral rich areas are no go zones. That coupled with lack of funding and politics makes the business harder. I have not dealt with any miners yet on a buying level. The brokers will shred you into dust, mainly when you are a beginner. Its been a learning experience so far and l think l'm up for the challenge. The part of the trade l enjoy most is faceting, its always a pleasure to look at every stone after faceting This is a great forum, its like taking classes at Gia at no cost |
