oh yea..you see the blue in that second pic down..the dividing line between the schrol and the aqua has an iridescent coating with blues, yellows, and greens..in some kind of wavy line type pattern..

Here are a few more pics i just took..at first i thought the colors were conchoidal fractures reflecting the light such as but after closer examination during my first post it seems to be like i said some sort of iridescent coating..reminds me, of course, of the iridescent hematite we collect at graves

Or interference fringes due to a non-perfect contact between the two crystals.

..yes, maialetto you might be right!!!....I think it might be the distortion of light between the two mediums and the air pocket between them..sort of like oil on water...similar to what happens in "iris" quartz..per my buddy scotts thoughts..maybe maybe not..or could be the grease from that pizza i was eating ran down in there...It's not delivery..it's Digornio

:D
I use the interference effect to check my cut stones' table flatness and edge rounding. I've one of those common box for gems with a glass lid and when I put the gem into it I can see the interference fringes (any gem box should work more or less well). The more fringes I see the more rounded is the facet (assuming a flat glass lid...). If I can see many thin fringes at the table's edges it's because I've rounded edges. It's rough, it's veeeery qualitative, but it works well. Who does need interferometry/interference microscopy anymore? :P
