Hit into some unique quartz crystals from our machine dig last Spring in Virginia. Looking like Beta quartz crystals, with their di-pyramidial habits, and lack of(or very thin) m-faces, they could very well be the rare "psuedo alpha after beta" crystals, that only occur sporadically in odd volcanic quartz deposits(rhyolite). Sadly, this was not to be the case.(as dollar signs floated away....) Now we just call them "Cumberland habit".....still a fairly rare quartz crystal shape. I can't recall ever digging, or handling, any quartz specimens from the South that showed this cool shape.
