This evening at Thanksgiving, I was shown a very unusual geode
Image
This picture was taken outside and the reflection of tree branches are on the left. The smoky outer chalcedony is crazy fluorescent with LW and SWUV.....

The agate walls are a translucent, smoky chalcedony with inclusions of fine red hematite lines. De Los Santos says the Crater agate is strongly green-fluorescent due to uranium salts.

Hmmm. Might be fun to lay it down on photographic paper and see if it'll do an autoradiograph.

Cheers

Ugh. I just got a mineral sample which the seller must have used as an ashtray. It stinks horribly of cigarette smoke :|

Beautiful agate, though! I've never seen one quite like it, or even much like it.

I did a Google Search for the material. Although this is the first example I've seem, it is not unique:

There were a few beautiful displays of this material at Tucson. Truly stunning.

I did a search for Patagonia agates and came across several specimens like this from Argentina labeled:
Pink Amethyst. Do you think the xls are actually pink?
Have you seen this stuff before?

Yes, I purchased some loose crystals last year. They have a light amethyst base color with finely included hematite, yielding a very pleasing pink color. They were trying to make a really big deal of them, but it doesn't seem to have stuck--a bit of a shame since they're quite nice.
I didn't catch prices on the agates unfortunately. It's not something I can get for my business and I could tell they were out of range for my personal buying.

Thank Stephen.
I bought one for my collection.
Not the one I originally posted, but this one. It's a wee specimen but it was 1/2 price of the other one:

It really is nice stuff, and I think it will eventually be valued accordingly. As-is, I got a bunch of single crystals to make pendants--they haven't sold as fast as I'd like but they look nice so I don't mind that much.
