hi,
since your question is about one of the MOST discussed topic here i suggest to search the WHOLE forum for older posts.
the answers are there, you've only to dig them out
If you want to search for older posts ,( sorry if may know this but some may not ,) right above in the blue box is FAQ and SEARCH click search type in lights for photography and it will pull up all related info
since it is a well-discussed topic on the forum, here's a starter link on gemstone photography, with links in the post to other discussions of gemstone photography-from alberto, ms. barbra, and n00b
also, please check out the inclusion section of the forum, and G4lab usually posts all kind of gemmo instruments in the instrument section of the forum
There are almost 90,000 article available on this forum currently. Both Gingerkid and I had to spend a little time searching to find these links for you....
One can usually find something about most gem topics with a little patience and reasonable effort.
Hey thanks a lot guys...I guess i should search before posting questions in future..Thanks
Hello Vismay Zaveri,
You have verygood photographs, can you please tell me the method of the photography as i need to use it on a project and submit in my institute. Please let me know in details if possible, like which camera, lens, lightings, softboxes or anything else used. It would be great if you could help me out.
And by checking your website i saw that you are also from Mumbai, and me too.

Here is a super tutorial here on the forums by Gary Braun of Finewater Gems. Short, too the point and effective. This will get you started. Of course there is always Scovil's "Photographing Minerals, Fossils, and Lapidary Materials"....
Yes please Star ruby , what lighting do you use for your Ruby photographs, Im finding the ruby the most difficult gem to get the colour and light return correct for . Please help and contribute to the forum
