Playing around with Helicon focus photo stacking software to get focus all the way through the picture. Really happy with how it turned out. Got to love the colours in these gems. Just needs a little bit of a clean up.

I did a search and found their site
http://www.heliconsoft.com/

I know many of our members use photo stacking software. I hope they will weigh in with their favorites and why they chose them.

I personally just discovered Helicon Focus and I couldn't be happier with the results. Significantly improved my photos.

I just picked up a mirror less micro 4/3 Olympus that can do focus stacking in the camera, but with a limited number of images. The camera automatically adjusts the focus and makes the exposures. Doing out of camera stacking, it can take up to 999 images to stack. So far I don't have the software to stack them. I use Affinity Photo, which is adding focus stacking in the next release, so I'll wait a bit.

How are you guys doing it with your camera? Do you manually adjust the focus?

My set up for shooting gems is with the Nikon D750 and 200 mm macro lens, which is nice since the working distance is greater then shorter lens, but my Nikon doesn't automatically make the images to stack. So do you just keep shooting, and make small focus adjustments?

Jordon, your images look great!
