I just finished cutting a nice Morganite from Zambezia Province, Alto Ligonha District, Mutala pegmatite area in Mozambique. I noticed that the photo of the stone looked like it had an effect similar to treacle seen in Hessonite garnet. I put the stone under the microscope and I found a really interesting array of liquid filled tubes. The effect can't been seen with the naked eye but I think it looks pretty wicked in the picture.
The picture is not mine, i found it at Russian internet website.
I saw the same many times in my Microsope.
These patterns occure in Thairus (Tairus) synethtic stones manufacturer beryl stones.
As i understoud it's a kind of twinning. To get faster grouth they do something with orientation of seeding plate, and krystal does not grow normaly and this pattern occur.
I contacted GIA instructor in Moscow, she confirmed that triangle pattern look pritty much the same with russian made synthetic beryls. But she can say for sure only if she will have the stone. Unfortunatly she is not aloud to give out photos used in education process
