I have a digital camera that I am setting up on my faceting machine to help me inspect the stone. (my eyes are not as good as they use to be). it is actually a sonny HD camera with a zoom.
I picked up a set of 1, 2, 4, and 10x scew on macro lenses to try and get a better image. It looks like I can stack them, and get a decent depth of field.. Does it matter what order I put them on the camera?
I know this is a newbe question, and appreciate any help.
I have the camera hooked up to the s video to a flat screen TV.
Now I just need to get the facet machine better balanced, so it does ot shake as much. I have to shut the machine off to get a decent picture.
I am also going to try a cheap usb camera, I was just looking at an article where some models have a screw in lenze, and you can get them to do 10:1 magnification by changing the focus.

Don't bother with macro adapters, get a long focus lens and then you can get a decent magnification with the camera well away from the faceter and out of the range of splashes. You might have to get some auto rings to extend the focus range, but they are not outrageously expensive and work well.
