I wonder if anyone have any experience with norwegian Peridot?

I happen to live just a little drive from the mine, but have never seen very good crystals.
Anyway, the Queen of Norway have a very nice necklace with these stones and some people say the color is good on the stones from this mine. The one I saw are rather olive/not very bright in color.
I guess I should just go there and hunt

I had the pleasure of working with some Norwegian peridot a while back when doing some magnetic susceptibility readings. Typically they have less iron than the Arizona or Burmese peridots and I think this gives them a softer green that has a pleasing appearance. I would head back to the mine!
From what I recall of Dr. Hoover's two faceted peridots, they were of 2-3 carats in size, were beautiful, and had certain diagnostic inclusions peculiar to Norway. (maybe from eating lutefisk?)

Cool handle BTW "Bezelbub"

Lol! Skål!

You know some important norwegian. Skål and Lutefisk is quite essential :D

Yes, I will go to the mine. Its about 1-2 hour drive from me.
Slight problem is that the mine has no right to extract crystals. They are suppose to "oversee" them.
The license is industrial olivine only.
I have spoken to the bosses in the mine on phone to get some info.
He told me there is stones in the village, people working there pick them and keen them in jars.
Which i think they are allowed, i guess its the mining company that cannot do business with the crystals.
I will find out and find stones :D

There is also a rumor(solid rumor that is) that somewhere in this small place hidden in a safe, there is a peridot crystal on the size of a fist.
Potential record breaker! I will look for that one too :P

Skål!

Pretty sure he's been in Vietnam for the past couple years now, so maybe not.
