After being outbid last second a couple times, I finally landed a blue dot chrysocolla. Seems a small group of collectors jump on these when one becomes available. It took a sniping service and a high max bid to win.

Image courtesy of TopGems Blue Dot Chrysocolla is purported only to be found at the Ray Mine in Arizona, which is one of the largest copper reserves in the United States.
It appears as though the tubes started out as stalagmitic/stalactitic structures then filled around with silica. Please add anything you might know about this.
The GIA has one posted article on the material: Chrysocolla In Quartz Donna Beaton and Akhil Sehgal, Apr 30
A gemological examination of chrysocolla in quartz from Tucson’s AGTA show. READ MORE
Really not much more I can find about this material. The photo Barbra posted from Top Gems are stones that sold some time ago. Not often a new stone is up for sale. My dealer Carver2 is a friend and competitor of Top Gems. Once in a while they put one up. Carver2 has an Ebay store. Right now he has a 37mm. cracked and repaired stone opening at a super low 60 dollars. Might make a good study stone. It is said these were mined out (Ray mine) in the 70's.

Awesome stone, Nicky! You seem to have some pretty neat and intriguing stones here and there over the years. I had either the Ray Mine or Inspiration Mine rough, that I had cabbed years ago. I see what looks like a little stalactitic growth on the edge!
Thanks for the post! I love your stone and that material in general!!!
