Thank you Barbra and all others for their input and Morning,
It could be anything. S.G. of some Peridots are almost same as corrundum, i was totally away from gemology for more than a year now , after basic tests it could be Sapphire, rutile needles, i will have to check its RI index, if my refractrometer is still working, which i doubt. Ablation does usually not abrade rocks, its hardness and bad/rough use which does, testing this stone's hardness means i will destroy it, that rough how i test rocks
A Pallasite is a meteor that contains peridot inclusions. Typical slices show nice polished iron and peridot you can see through. Diagnosis is usually not difficult. You can etch the metal to see the pattern.
When I see a random, poorly cut yellow stone, I don't normally jump to pallasite. Even if it turned out to be fosterite/peridot, I wouldn't jump to pallasite. So the real question I have is ... why would you think it was a pallasite? Was it sold to you as one? About the only thing it has going for it is the color.
Everyone is right in their own opinions, best i can do to send this stone to lab for testing its metal content.
Yes Barbra you got a good eye, this stone was in inherited inventory for last 30 years before i bought it.
Sapphires sometimes regardless of synthetic or natural or weather any reason are also found facet abraded.
When a pallasite or any other rock is thin sectioned, it will most likely be see through weather in or outside the slide..Or may be 1 mm thick might be see through as well.
Barbra, your image looks like a Borg sapceship! Regards Pallasite, please have a look at the linked article to see if any of this can help you with your ID:
