I was gifted this stone and told it was a quartz found in a river in Puerto Rico. My first guess was that it was Citrine but the deep color doesn't make sense if this was indeed fished out of a river. Any guidance in the right direction would be so very appreciated. I use my collection of stones in my chakra and metaphysical practices and so I'd like to identify this one correctly. Thank you in advance!

Looks like a bit chhnk of calite (travertine) Travertine does form in fresh water, but this looks like a commercial sample. could be local if you're blessed with cool geology and very hard water. Not very expensive material, about 5-10usd/lb.
