I have a question for members on this forum- Would love to get your view on it. Pink topaz is a comparatively rare variety of topaz, and its rare to find large stones in it. Recently I cam across a 16 carat pink topz, unheated, untreated. Its a stunning, beautiful piece.

Just wondering: how much is a pink topaz worth per carat? How much would the almost 16 carat topaz be worth?

Would really appreciate members' reply in this regard. I have attached a picture too.

The stone appears very heavily included. Definitely not, IMO, a gem, more of a specimen.

Just as a sidebar, there is no way to determine if a pink topaz has been heated or not.

Value is a function of clearly defining the market you are basing the value on.

That stone is of a quality that is not usually considered for cutting into a faceted gemstone.

It is too heavily included.

The color is very light compared to what the market expects from a pink topaz.

The cut is of very poor workmanship.

The stone is all but worthless in the gemstone market.

I hope you didn't invest too much money into it.

Sorry.

Thank you. Yes, that's the first impression that I got too, of inclusions. But I just wanted to be sure. There were other, smaller pieces without any inclusions, but the size of this one got me interested. Anyway, thank you for the helpful information.
