During the month of the March 2020 A local Peshawar based small gemological lab CIGTL test a stone with verbal result diaspore Here I want to share some observation regarding the new material. The main area of the deposit in Goshta, Jalalabad, Afghanistan (near hydrogrossular mines in Goshta). The color of the stuff is mauve(pale purple) mostly crystals are broken but in good size and clarity (for lapidary) observed. I do not observe any color change material but in incandescent light, the mauve color slightly changes in lavender (which is the same version of purple with bright color ) The material is strongly pleochroic. No diagnostic absorption spectrum is seen. With regard HUK

The Gem trader recently added one to his website. Indeed pretty, and although I love and prefer Color Change Stones (even with what some consider undesired colors), this Diaspore variety is a very nice even without any Color Change.
I was able to get one nice crystal from a dealer-friend in Pakistan, not cheap but hopefully after some frustrating faceting (as I heard it is not easy) it should be a pretty result. Will keep you all posted.
