Only contextually, yeah. But when a seller lists an item as 'heated' when it shows a color that would be rapidly destroyed by mild heat you can catch their meaning. I wouldn't ever worry about irradiation in indicolite of course, and if I saw eg a reputable seller who does their own hesting listing a rubellite as heated I'd believe it, but if I see a dealer I don't know from Pakistan listing a rubellite as 'heated' I'd wonder, given how easy access is to gamma irradiation there, how many of the region's tourmalines benefit from it, and how many 'heated' neon green spodumenes I see listed from there.
