I wanna go see what this is all about and not sure how a newbie should go about seeing all this. Seems to be spread out all over town or am I wrong about this? I wanna buy some rough (not to expensive) and would really appreciate some direction on where to go and what to do!!

Thanks!!

If you are going get a hotel reservation and give your self at least three days and if not driving there get a rental car. There are venues all over the city as much as 6-8 miles apart.
there are a great many near downtown you can walk to on the south side of the freeway and those alone will take you two days...three if you like to talk.
You can find just about anything you want that comes from the earth from giant ground sloth fossils to red beryl...take you time and take some cash.

YOU WILL WANT TO GO BACK!!!!!!

Several maps will be available EVERYWHERE when you get to the show.

There is a booklet that lists all the shows, with a map. It is available everywhere... in the airport, in hotels, at shows.

Also I want to second stairman's recommendation... take cash to the shows.

I think the most intense time is the week containing the first days of February. Hotel rooms, if available, will be most expensive then.

Is it getting towards time to open the Tucson 2018 section? It might be a good idea to get the annual dinner hammered out early this year.

The following I have heard many times:
I took $x with me. I was going for n days so I decided I would spend $x/n each day.

......
The second day I went to the bank....

As Stairman said, you'll want a vehicle. Parking at the shows can be scarce, though. There are free shuttles which travel around the shows. I haven't seen schedules and maps for 2018 yet, but Google Tucson show shuttles and you'll find them.

You got that right. I lived in AZ for years, but never realized how much colder Tucson was than Phoenix. That 1300 foot difference in elevation really counts.
