Thank you for this link. I had not seen the full entry from Ron's website.

I am pleased to say that since the release, I have not had any other irradiated Colombian emeralds come into the lab. I am still in the process of trying to get some Colombian emeralds irradiated by those who were doing the treatment, so I will keep the GemologyOnline forum up to date as I get further news. And as I have mentioned to other labs, if samples do come through, I will share them for our collective interest and information.

Thanks for the info sir.

some 6-7 years ago i tried irradiation on different colors of beryl family stones . it was cobalt 60 irradiation and none of the stone showed any change,either in its appearance or in its internal inclusions.
but i never dared to try emerald,as its a costly stone.

i wonder if its the emerald's natural color which is enhanced by irradiation? or its something pushed into the emerald mixed with filler material which turns green when irradiated,which ultimately gives a more greener look to the emerald?
