Hello all,

During the Las Vegas show, which just ended, the latest edition of the In Color magazine came out. There are several very good articles, including those by Prof. Gaston Guliani and his colleagues, as well as Thomas Hainschwang and Frank Notari, as well as others.

There was a thread about spinel and its treatments on this forum a little while ago, which I didn't find right away. While that was going on, I had an article submitted to In Color, which gave an overview of the treatments involved with spinel. That article is also in this issue of In Color. I thought I would include it here for those in the forum that may find it interesting.

Best regards,
Christopher P. Smith

P.S. I tried to upload the pdf, but it was not allowed. Can anyone help me with this??

Hello Rashanravan,

Perhaps that will be the easiest, I'll contact our IT person.

Regarding the other post, you are right. I still need to upload what I have prepared. Now that I am not travelling for a little while, I just need to run some spectra to clarify my points.

Best regards,
Christopher P. Smith

Hello all,

Here is the link to the article.

[pdfview]http://www.aglgemlab.com/News/Final%20Gemology_Spinel.pdf[/pdfview]

Also, the Las Vegas show was quite good and interesting. The market continues to be fairly robust however exhibitors described a mixed reception and amount of business.

Best regards,
Christopher P. Smith

all,

This is a great publication and with the death of Colored Stone, pretty much the only thing out there that covers the gem industry in non-technical terms.

Best,
RW

Hello all,

I just want to echo Richard's sentiments. I believe that the ICA is doing a superb job with their InColor Magazine. For any of you who are not members/subscribers, I strongly recommend it. Jean-Claude and his team are doing a great job in providing high-quality content and printing, which covers a broad range of topics important to the colored stone trade as a whole.

Best regards,
Christopher P. Smith
