Hello,

I just bought a new ring in a quite well known shop of Place Vendôme which presents some melee white and cognac diamonds and I put it under UV and stated that all the cognac diamonds have an intense apple green fluorescence.

I never saw this intensity of green before so I wonder if the diamonds are natural or may be irradiated. I know that some natural colored diamonds can have some weired colors under UVs but at this degree???

Thanks for your comments.

Best regards,
Christel

I just completed a 1 carat plus OMB which acts as you mention in UV light. It's natural but it has got a strong orange presence in natural light..., in direct sunlight you clearly notice the apple green fluo. Kinda cool.

Can you see the green in direct sunlight?

What you are probably seeing is H3 center in diamond aka. 'green transmitter'. Naturally occuring they are VERY rare, most often it is generated by HPHT-treatment or heat treatment after irradiation. Impossible to say more without actually testing the stones.

Yes, the green is noticeable in direct sunlight..., but it is overlapping the strong Orange-Brown color which it displays in regular natural lighting. In direct sunlight the Diamond looses some of its luster face up but it's phenomenal in tilted angle position. Actualy the fluorescence reminds me of a Chameleon.
