I am looking at diamonds being sold from an on-base shop in Afghanistan. The diamonds are certified by "Jaipur Gemological Lab" which claims to be certified by the Gemological Institute of America on their certificate. I am guessing they just send people to GIA classes to make that claim.

I'm curious to know your thoughts on how much credit these certificates have, and how much you think this guy should be asking for the two diamonds whose report number I have provided below.

75990
72899

I hope I can post a link here, its the place to check the report numbers.

Also, here is a picture of one of the certification cards. If i can get over there early enough in the morning tomorrow I will take some macro pictures of the stones. The merchant also had a diamond tester that supposedly tested for Moissanite.

Any and all opinions are welcome.

Thanks!

I do not have personal experience with this lab, nor have I heard anything about it.
I would have confidence in a GIA or EGL certificate.

i only trust in GIA, HRD & IGI. i have seen HPHT treated stones with EGL report which was not identified treated!! also their grading system is crap. any other lab for Diamonds is crap
(fancy diamonds are exceptional they might also have SSEF, Gubelin, GRS report but its doesn't always worth the cost of lab!)
