Plastic deformation in diamond is caused by a strain on the crystal lattice that is partially relieved by atomic displacement. You can find this phenomena in diamonds subjected to impact, high pressure, or secondary growth on a boundary plane.
I have never heard of "pologonisation", but I have heard of polygonization that occurs when metals get annealed.
