The chamber of commerce I belong to is having their 50th anniversary this year. I was thinking that it would be pretty awesome to get each of the attendees a crappy, non-gem grade cheap pretty diamond rough, hopefully a few mm in size, then get a "decent" diamond from Stuller or similar for a random special "winner". Market the hell out of it, put my logo on the packaging, little write up on what a diamond is, etc...

But.. I don't ever deal with diamonds so... I don't know where to get some crappy rough (2-300 pieces at least 3mm in size, hopefully more) at a cheap giveaway price ($100 to $200 ish).

Looking at eBay, and see lots that look great, then read the description and "50 to 75 rough stones and you'll have a carat"

Is there a better contact or way to get legal non-gem grade but pretty diamond rough at an affordable price, or am I just nuts?

Thanks!

Gjeret

Manak usually has quite a few...I'm not sure of their prices as I've never been in the market for them.

Contacted them, but they never responded, wound up getting some really small gray cubes off of FleaBay.

Thanks tho!

I'm sorry about that referral. I have always been pleased with their follow through in the past. :|

Try the Diamond Council in Antwerp, I can't just lay my hands on the address or phone number (I'm not as neat, tidy and organised as Barbra), but you should be able to google it. I have always found them very helpful and they can usually find an English speaker at a moments notice.
