Yes, I recall reading an article on that. I find it reassuring that natural diamonds are not so scarce, so we will not run out of supply.

If De Beers has been able to convince people that "Real is Rare" for 100 years. They should also be able to convince them that "Lab grown has no value".

Not likely, as they are supposedly going to be selling cut synthetic diamonds in the US later this year.

If you explore the marketing and pricing plan for the De Beers Lab Grown Diamonds you will see that the reason they are going into that business is to devalue lab grown in contrast to their "Real is Rare" advertising campaign. Since diamond mining went from aluvial to primary, diamonds have never been rare on the market. Still the people generally think that they are. I think they will pull this off.

I have been in the diamond business since 1981 and I think Element 6 have overestimated the gullibility level of their buying public.

Interesting, I would like to hear more about your thoughts on this. Where do you think they are missing things?
