First, I wonder what they'll do with their lab's microscopes (not that I have any spare money to buy any). Second, I wonder if the GIA has any plans to preserve their history. It seems to me that when they moved Gem Instruments (maybe when it was formally brought in-house) they basically chucked any records they might have had. So their track record on incorporating closely-related organizations isn't what I'd call incredible.
