Just received a message from the FB group founder:

We won our battle : Coral is NOT in CITES !
This is just the first step for us, Assocoral will meet the Minister of the Environment today to define the future strategy to make coral harvesting more and more sustainable .
This group will remain active for those who love coral and want to be updated.
I thank you all for your support.

Thank you very much to you all for have been supported the cause! :D

VERY Good news.
Is it still true?
I had email xchange with someone who said Med. coral is protected and has import restrictions in the US, not so taiwanese and s. pacific coral.

I dearly love some of the coral "sculptures" I've seen. It would be a shame for that skill to disappear.

Rubrum coral was and is not (to my knowledge) in the CITES II so, if there are import restrictions in the US they are not due to CITES..........

I am not aware of import restrictions in the United States.
Some retailers choose not to deal in coral. Tiffany is an example.
