Wow! THIS is amazing...
Is the entire stone of this color or just the surface? I asked this, because I have a Mexican stone which is also red seen in front but if you look from the side, only a layer is red, the rest is golden yellow. As far as I understood, this phenomenon was linked to oxydation of the surface only.

As far as I know, in the mexican amber from Chiapas the red color is only superficial, it is an oxidised crust as you say. If repolished, the yellow basic color would appear again. But in the burmite, the cherry light red color is in the bulk. Burmite is famous for that nice reddish color.

Burma is known for its red amber Mexico & the Dominican Republic are also known for good red amber Yes sometimes the red is only on the surface, but often it is completly red though out the stone, and though it is rare it can come in large pieces

The orange-red to deep red amber from Burma can be really beautiful. It generally does not display the strong blue fluorescence, however, that the lighter yellows and golden-yellows show.
The scorpion is something really special. Although it is small, the amber it is in is otherwise quite clean. The detail is amazing, even with just a 10x loupe.

I had the same concern, so I asked the expert in the field.
Dr. David A. Grimaldi, Curator of Invertebrate Zoology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, Author of "Amber: Window to the Past" and "Evolution of the Insects", has seen the photos and had confirmed the authenticity of this scorpion.
