I read from Walter Schumann's "gemstones of the world" that "river pearls show green fluorescence under uv".

I check my freshwater pearls and found that many of them do show this phenomenon, but some freshwater pearls in my collection do not have this phenomenon. And surprisingly, some white south sea pearls I have seems to glow a bit greenish under uv too...

Under what condition that pearls will show green fluorescence? Is it possible that the non-fluorescence of the freshwater pearls is due to certain treatments?
