Got this for 20 january. thought worth separate post so Pele might see it. There was enough interest in my other aurora post. It is clear tonight, so I am going out in a few minutes.

SpaceWeatherLive Alert
Middle Latitude Aurora Watch
There is a chance to see an aurora display on the middle latitudes, this means that, at the time we sent this e-mail, there was a chance of auroral activity, this does not mean that you will see the aurora but does mean that you should be alert for a possible aurora display. Much will depend on the measurements of local magnetometer stations so keep a good eye on them on our website.
Warning! Keep in mind that this alert doesn't take the local weather forecast into account and we do not know wheter it's day or night at your location because the warning is valid for the entire mid-latitude and that is a broad area...
More information about the low, middle and high latitude

It is 2am..... The levels reached a peak about 12:30 here of 5.5 which shuld have been a good display. I have 400 shots of low lying thin clouds not a single light to be had. The moon was pretty bright, and usually at this level it is stlll good. I was looking forward to some shots with the ountains lit up by the moonlight.... I git that, just nothing else..... Oh well, maybe next time.

If things line up, there will be a storm predicted for a clear weekend, I could then drive further north (juno ish) and try it. There is a hot spring up there with 105 degree spring water, you can sit outside in the hot water and watch the aurora..... Camera's a little more ofa problem, but with a computer setup once I get it aimed.... back in the water....

I can dream.....
