Okay I won't post any more mosquitoes in the flower thread. :D

One summer my dad took me on a fishing trip in north Canada, where we arrived on a lake by floatplane. That's where I first saw the northern lights, which was cool.

But right at dusk, we had to cover ourselves in DEET. I can still remember each evening the clouds of mosquitoes floating a couple inches in front of my face. (Now I suppose they were attracted by the CO2 in my breath while being repelled by the DEET.) Finally when it got too cold at night, they'd go away. My dad told me, "just be glad we aren't here during black fly season."
