No matter how big, established or famous their business is, I have found gem dealers to be the most approachable business owners among big companies on the net. Whereas with most other goods you get to deal with customer service staff, with gems I have had personal communication by email from some of the company bosses, namely David Weinberg, Marc Sarosi, Tom Chatham and Judith Osmer. I really like that despite their busy tasks they take the time to personally answer their customers' questions instead of outsourcing :D

I'll agree, I've found people in the trade to be very accessible and for the most part very nice and welcoming. It's generally not so big that you can't get in touch with people.
